Jules Bordet

Jules Bordet, a Belgian physiologist, bacteriologist and hematologist who won the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 1919 for his discovery relating to immunity, was born on Jun. 13th, 1870. He was a scholar who made the largest contribution to disease prevention or immunology in 20th century. Jules Bordet was an M.d. of Brussels University, Belgium and also was a professor in Brussels University. At the end of 19th century, he developed antibacterial serum successfully and systematically discussed the basic principles of using plasma to restrain different bacterium and virus. In 1906, he developed anti-cough vaccine with his colleagues together and developed antidiphtheric vaccine independently later.
