On October 3, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences RSAS announced that George F. Smoot and John C. Mather from USA were awarded with the Nobel Prize in Physics for their discovery of the blackbody form and anisotropy of the cosmic microwave background radiation.

Mather is of great assistance in researching on early universe and can help human beings to know more about the origin of galaxy and stars. George F. Smoot, who was born in 1945 and had received the doctor's degree of MIT IN 1970, is a professor of University of California Berkeley, CA, USA now. They will share the cash award of 10M Swedish Kronor (about US$1,400,000).
