Roy J. Glauber, USA Scientist

John L. Hall, USA Scientist

Theodor W. H?nsch, Germany Scientist
According to report of Nobel official website, Nobel committee of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences RSAS awarded the Nobel Prize in physics 2005 to USA Scientist Roy J. Glauber, USA Scientist John L. Hall and Germany scientist Theodor W.H?nsch.
Cash award of the Nobel Prize in physics in that year was 10 million Swedish Kronor (about US$1,290,000), half of which was awarded to Professor Roy J. Glauber of Harvard University, and another was shared by Professor John L. Hall of University of Colorado and Germany scientist Theodor W.H?nsch.
In the proclamation of awarding these three scientists with the Nobel Prize in physics, the Nobel committee declared that Roy J. Glauber acquired the prize for his contribution to the quantum theory of optical coherence.
And John L. Hall and Theodor W.H?nsch were awarded for their contributions to the development of laser-based precision spectroscopy, including the optical frequency comb technique.
Proclamation of the committee declared that contribution made by John L. Hall and Theodor W.H?nsch made it possible to measure frequency precisely. People can now construct very bright laser and measure frequency of light of different colours by means of optical frequency comb technique which makes it possible to study stability of natural constant in a given time and develop extraordinary precise clock and improve global positioning technology.
