and its Director General Baradei Won Nobel Peace Prize
October 7 Oslo Stockholm, (reported by Ma Shijun of Xinhua News): Norwegian Nobel Committee announced on Oct 7 in Oslo, they would grant Mohamed M. El Baradei, International Atomic Energy Agency ---IAEA and its Director General, Nobel Peace Prize 2005, to commend their accomplishments in preventing nuclear energy in military use and applying unclear energy in peace time.
Nobel Peace Prize evaluation committee said in bulletin that Director General Baradei is the most courageous and excellent representative of International Atomic Energy Agency in contributing to the prevention of nuclear energy in military use and enforcement civil nuclear energy security..
The International Atomic Energy Agency founded in 1957 is an organization that establishes relationship with United Nations and cooperates with each government worldwide in scientific atomic energy field, with the head office in Vietnam Austria.
Born in 1942 in Egypt, Baradei started to work in International Atomic Energy Agency in 1984, and was appointed to the Secretary General in 1997 and was in office in succession till now. In September 2005, Baradei was approved to consistently assume the position of Secretary General, which was his third appointment of this post. The new term is four years, commencing from December 1 this year.
The official Award Ceremony of Nobel Peace Prize would be held in Oslo municipal department on December 10, where the winner would be awarded a golden emblem, a certification and a huge sum of prize. The prize is valued at SEK10 million (US$1.3 million), shared by International Atomic Energy Agency and Baradei.
