British Argentina biochemist C. Milstein, born in 1927, and German immunologist G. Koehler, born in 1946, invented monoclonal antibody technique and were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology 1984 together with Denmark immunologist N.K.Jerne (1911 to 1994), father of modern immunology. Monoclonal antibody technique exerts profound influence nearly in all fields of physiology and medicine and leads a revolution in the diagnosing and curing of many diseases. The birth of monoclonal antibody technique enabled the first AIDS case was found out in 1981.
