The 2006 Nobel Prize Forum Opened in People's auditorium in September 5 themed as"Life science and human health".Chen Zhili from the state council gave a theme lecture at the forum and the mayor of Beijing-Wang Qishan also gave a welcome lecture. Professor Robert A Mundell from Columbia University gave a lecture on behalf of the Nobel Prize winner and the relevant experts. Vice chairman of the prople's congress Xu Jialu attended the meeting. Vice president of CAS Xu Jinghai masterminded the opening ceremony.
Chen Zhili said that, the new technology revolution is changing the world rapidly; the modern tech and science such as bioscience and biotech are growing vividly---not only give a great power for the world's development, but also changing our everyday life deeply. After opening policy, we Chinese had gained a lot, but as the worldĄŻs biggest developing country, we still have lots of urgent problems such as resource, urban & rural, different area developing unbalance. To solve these problems, we first must insist the opening policy and improve the system of market economy; second is improve our technology development ability, change the economy developing way to increase the economy growing quality.
"If the information technology is increasing our working efficiency, then life science and biotech will change the step of human and society, the effect is enormous", said by Chen. He said that China government had already issued the Middle and long term science and tech developing plan at the beginning of this year- set life science and biotech as an important part with the most priority and importance, the government will support them in policies, funds and human resources.
The forum had held 2 groups of academic reports forum. In the morning "Innovation and technology strategy forum", Vice mayor of Beijing-Zhao Fengtong, CAS Zhang Yaping gave lectures of Implement the capital innovation strategy and life science and biotech in China. Professor Earnst Bartler of Scripps Institute gave the Develop the modern way of hygiene: a challenging travel. The prize winner Li Zhengdao and Robert Mundell gave lectures of Say from power original to basic science and human with ability; Science discovery, system pressure and society development.
In the afternoon Life science and human health forum, UCLA professor Louis J Egnarlo, professor Robert Hubur from Germany Mappo bioscience institute, professor Aron Sietsernow from Israel Technolgy University, Yu Jun from CAS Beijing Gene Group research institute gave lectures of Healthy eating and exercise for health; Protein and its structure in basic science and iatrology; Protein dissolve system: from basic mechanism of human disease to medicine target;Bird flu and break out STD; Human gene group plan and human health.
In the afternoon, two of the Nobel prize winner- professor Filider Mulader from University of Taxas and Professor Hartmut Mishell from Germany Mappo bioscience institute had came to China consonancy medical university and Tsinghua University to receive their honored professor title and gave lectures there respectively.
