Nobel Peace Prize is one of five Nobel Prizes established and funded by Swedish inventor Alfred Nobel. According to Nobel¡¯s last will, Nobel Peace Prize should be awarded in the capital city of Norway¡ªOslo rather than in Sweden where other four Nobel Prizes are awarded. Nobel Peace Prize Committee is a committee of five who are appointed by the Norwegian Parliament.
In accordance with Alfred Nobel's will, the peace prize is intended to award "the person who has made best endeavors and contributions to the promotion of national unity and friendship, disarmament and organization of peace conference". However, this prize also can be awarded to qualified institutions and organizations.
Due to the nature of Nobel Prize, the laureates are not accepted by all sometimes and controversial compared with other Nobel Prizes. The nomination and selection process for the Nobel Peace Prize is much depending on the standpoint of the committee of five.
