British writer Russell won the Nobel Prize in Literature in recognition of his varied and significant writings in which he champions humanitarian ideals and freedom of thought. American Ralph Bunche won the Nobel Peace Prize for his dedicated work as an intercessor between Israel and Palestine and his contributions on the establishment of the armistice between them.
