2007-9-17
Einstein once was a naughty child, who spent his time on street everyday, or like a hippy, played with neighboring children at grange or river side whole day long. Einstein's mother was worried about her son, and she repeatedly dissuaded little Einstein from dawdling life. She said,' Son, You cannot idle your life in this way any more. How will you make your way out in future if you learn less knowledge at present time?' But Einstein cared less about this, and said, 'Look at my playmates, they all live that way.' He kept living his idle life until the autumn when he was 16 years old. On that day, his father stopped Einstein's way to the fishing pool. The father said, 'I experienced something interesting yesterday which I'd like to share with you. How about hearing my story before you go fishing?' Einstein was unhappy, but had to stop and listen to his father. Father told him, 'Yesterday, Our neighbor, Uncle Jack and I went to clean the chimney of the factory at south side. The top of chimney can only be touched through the reinforcement ladder inside it. Your Uncle Jack went upstairs first, and I followed him. With the support of handrails, we finally went to the top. When going downstairs, you Uncle Jack was still first, I was second. The moment when we went out of chimney, we found that your Uncle Jack was smoked black by the chimney but I was as clean as before.' Einstein's father smiled, and kept telling his story, 'your Uncle Jack's looking told me that my face must be black as him, should be like a clown, so I went to the nearby river to wash my face. But your Uncle Jack thought himself as clean as me, so he just washed his hands and went forward to the street. And as a result you can imagine, all people on street laughed, and thought your Uncle Jack was mad.' " Einstein, after hearing the joke, couldn't help laughing together with his father. After laughing, the father seriously said to Einstein, 'Actually, no one else can be your mirror except for yourself. If taking others as mirror, or reference, even an idiot may find himself a genius.'
